Karaikal · Since 1979

நினைவலைகளின் பந்தம்

Karaikal's Nannari Syrup, made the same way since 1979.

Real nannari root. Nothing borrowed, nothing rushed.

The earthy, cooling taste of real Indian sarsaparilla root, the way sarbath is meant to taste.

J P's recipe. It never changes – decades may change, tradition will not change.

His face is on every label. So is his promise.

From a roadside cart in Karaikal to homes across the Delta.

Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thiruthuraipoondi, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur and every street in between.

Taste it once. You'll be back.

One family. One recipe. Every summer since 1979.

Before it was a brand, it was a promise John Peter made to his customers on a Karaikal street: the same honest sarbath, every single time. His grandchildren still keep it.

The first JP Sarbath shop, Karaikal.

Our story

It began with a grandfather who would not give up.

  1. 1979A five-foot cart. It started on the street in Karaikal: one small cart, five feet long, and a sarbath people stopped for.
  2. 1989A shop on Church Street. The cart became a shop on Church Street, Karaikal.
  3. 1998Glass bottles. We began bottling our syrup in glass, so families across Karaikal could take it home.
  4. 2010Plastic bottles. For our customers' convenience, the glass made way for lighter plastic bottles that travel well.
  5. 2024Our own patented design. The JP Sarbath bottle, designed by us and patented.
  6. 2026Across the Delta. Today we supply Karaikal, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruthuraipoondi, Thiruvarur and Mannargudi.

Once you try it, you’ll come back for the rest of your life.

What we hear across the counter, every summer.
